A lot of entrepreneurs have a false sense of what business networking is really about; the saying that “it’s not what you know but who you know” has been true for a long time and is still the case today! The reason I interviewed Jordan is because I wanted to find out how small business owners can network effectively and efficiently with other business owners as well as with clients and potential customers – Your success in business depends on your ability to network with the right people!

He co-founded The Art of Charm – a company that teaches men charisma and the skills that they need to network with people to create business relationships as well as dating and connecting with women. From a business standpoint, they teach entrepreneurs how to find the right people, establish genuine connection with them and exchange value so that it results in a win-win situation for all parties involved. On the interview he explained the following:

Network with the idea to help as many people as possible Networking at business events is not simply about handing out your business cards, engaging in small talk or trying to meet with everyone in the event and then assuming that you are working the crowd. To truly network with people you need to approach it from a mindset of trying to figure out how you can provide value for the people you meet. This takes time and effort and it requires you putting your needs aside and focusing on how you can find a way to help them meet their own goals. This act alone will eventually results in them trying to figure out how they too can help you meet your own business goals.

Kris Kaplan on Why you must make tough business decisions in order to succeed

The reason I interviewed Kris is because I was trying to find out what small business owners need to do in this economy to be successful and he respond with an email that hit the nail right on the head – You must be willing to make tough decisions for your business!

He owns Kris & Co – a company that provides manufacturers of giftware products and stationery with a sales force for selling their products to retail establishments in Northeast USA and on the interview he explained the following:

Begin any change in your business by educating those who will be affected by the change – When Kris decided to become a virtual company one of the things he did was to educate his clients on the need to have meeting online in form of webinars instead of having to fly down to meetings. Changes are sometimes uncomfortable and with all things great come great effort so you need to be diligent about staying true to the changes that you make in your business. One way to do this is to make whatever changes you make in your business a regular practice so that it becomes part and parcel of what it is that makes you unique.

Vanessa Coppes on Why you need Passion to be Successful in your Business

The reason I interviewed Vanessa is because she started her business when the economy started heading south – talk about passion!

She owns ENV by Vanessa Coppes – a handmade jewelry line catering to fashionable women and on the interview she explained how the economy varies for different business niches and that you the small business owner gets to create your own economic reality based on the needs of your clients and customers. In essence understanding your client is vital to the survival of your business – your products and services must be affordable and at the same time, it needs to satisfy the needs of your client.

Be the face of your business:

Always be willing and be ready to represent your business anywhere because prospective clients might have questions for you on a dimes notice.

Passion is one of the main ingredients to the success of your business:

You first need to believe in your products and services before you can convince anyone on why they should become your client or customer.

Why your business needs You to always be inspired!

To be inspired is to be aroused and motivated into doing something; it means to be driven towards achieving your goal(s). It’s that invisible force that allows you to withstand the storms and perils that your business will face. I felt this topic is so important for entrepreneurs hence I decided to make it the topic of my first video.

Running a business is always challenging and sometimes things do not go according to your business plan. Even worse, you might get to the point of wanting to throw in the towel and quit; it is the inspiration of the business owner that allows him or her to be open to failure and to see it as part of the journey towards becoming successful.
